yukata experience in hong kong
it heppened to be in the middle of the mid-autumn festival, so i decided to bring out my newly-tailored yukata on my trip. actually, i really feard that it would be too hot to wear one in hk even at night. to wear this summer robe, you need to be virtually "waistless" and "flat breast", which most of the modern japanese girls are not happy to be. so to make your torso artificially into this shape of traditional girls, you need to wrap your waist with thick towels with straps tightly tied, and then wear a special bra designed to flatten your breast. this will make up more layers in addition to many original layers that are already with the robe. so just imagine how hot you would feel by wearing those... anyways it is funny to think how the concept of beauty varies according to cultures, times and places and our ancestors seriously thought it was more sexy this way...! haha.
ah-hong looked startled at the first sight when i came out from the hotel entrance, and so did some of the people who we came across on our way to causeway bay. with these eyes of curious people i felt a little nervous and funny at the same time, but later i started to feel very happy to be a model in some little cultural exchanges (such were shown in my photo with a little chinese girl).
after all the event we had on the day, i really felt all my energy was drained (it takes extra-stamina just to walk on the street in this kimono robe) and really wanted to take everything off as soon as possible, and when i did so i found out i was in sweat all over... especially around my waist it went all the way throught the towel to the surface of the robe!!!
