Ombra mai fu
yes, it's classical music lesson again!!!
This time is "Ombra mai fu" (literally translation in english is "Never has there been a shade", it was sung by the main male character to praise of a tree's shade). It is the first solo part from the opera "Xerse" (the main male character) written by G. F. Handel.
This version is the best one i could find in youtube, not just because it was sung by José Carreras, but because it included the music score with the lyric, and also the former part. Most popular version they dont include that part.
José Carreras, of cos, he is a very great and famous singer, one of the most famous three tenors in 20th cent, however, most Hong Kong people only knew the other two, Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, but not him, how poor he is. If you know he was so handsome when he was young, and he overcame blood cancer many yers ago and made many help for those who suffer from the same unluckiness after his recovery, you may appreciate and love him more and more.
By the way, i used to play some of the music made by Handel, but i have to say honestly, they just dont click me, i dont like most of them, except this beautiful and passionate "Ombra mai fu". And sorry to all ladys and female singers, i dont think this song fit your voice, so pls for Handel and your own sake, leave it to man, haha! Here is the song.
